
Florida Tech men’s soccer suffered their first loss of the season, a 3-2 defeat to host Palm Beach Atlantic in the first Sunshine State Conference match for both teams on Saturday night.
Seventh-ranked PBA came into the match having won five in a row and outscoring their opponents 19-1 over their 5-0 start. Florida Tech fell to 4-1 overall with the loss.
Per Henrik Nag scored both goals for the Panthers, including a late goal with 3:04 left in the match. He got the Panthers on the board 15 minutes into the match, giving FIT an early 1-0 lead. Solomon Wheatley got the assist.
Unfortunately, the Sailfish (6-0, 1-0 SSC) scored the three goals in between, the first coming 5:13 after Nag’s first goal. Claudio Rivadeneira tied the game at one and 15:08 later, Marc Hebbeker gave the home team a 2-1 lead.
Cadu Cusatis, who assisted on the Rivadeneira goal, scored one of his own, 5:22 into the second half, giving the Sailfish a 3-1 lead. All three goals were scored against Panthers goalie Jason Fesquet, who made four saves. Palm Beach Atlantic goalie Elliott Barker had four of his own.
The final goal of the night came on a header by Nag, on an assist from Luca Campanini. The Sailfish were able to kill off the last few minutes without allowing the Panthers to get the equalizer.
Florida Tech (4-1, 0-1 SSC) held a 14-12 advantage in shots, including six shots on goal. PBA had seven shots on goal. Florida Tech took four corners to the Sailfish three.

The Panthers will look to bounce back next Saturday when they host Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Rick Stottler Field.
