For the second time in the six years, the Florida Tech Panthers are in taking part in the NCAA Division II Football playoffs. They will travel to Hickory, NC  this Saturday, November 17, to take on a Lenoir-Rhyne team that finished the season with 10 straight wins. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.

Have a look at the full playoff bracket here.

Florida Tech players, coaches, and families gathered Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Rialto for a viewing party, watching as they heard their name called during the NCAA Selection Show.

The Panthers (8-3) were ranked sixth in the Super Region 2 poll before their win at Shorter Saturday and they held that ranking when the seedings were announced Sunday. The Bears (10-1) are ranked third in Super Region 2.

We were with the team as they heard their name called on Sunday, joining Alan Zlotorzynski of Space Coast Daily and the play-by-play voice of the Panthers, Jerry Durney. Check out the videos below, featuring interviews with coaches and players, along with thoughts from the three of us, below.

The only loss Lenoir-Rhyne had this season came in their opening game, against West Alabama, a Gulf South Conference foe of Florida Tech. That game came down to the final drive, with West Alabama scoring with 12 seconds on the clock, winning the game 36-32.

Our latest installment of Gridiron Lowdown: Playoff Bound is now up. We will also have comprehensive coverage of the game on Twitter, @Sports_Lowdown, as well as a full recap article Saturday afternoon.

Thank you to Alan Zlotorzynski for allowing us to be part of Sunday’s festivities, as well as all his help throughout the season. Thank you as well to Jerry Durney, who has done so much to help us in the three years we’ve covered the Panthers on this site. Both guys have done so much to help us and both are much appreciated.
