The Florida Tech Panthers scored six runs in the eighth inning Friday, en route to a 7-0 win over Rollins in a Sunshine State Conference game at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field. This follows a 7-1 win for the Panthers on Thursday.

Andy Marzheuser (8-2) pitched well for the Panthers, as he has all season long. He pitched seven strong innings, allowing three hits. He walked one and struck out seven, throwing 69 of his 94 pitches for strikes.

The Panthers (28-18, 16-11 SSC) had nine hits in the game, with two each for Rodnie Bernard and James Gronberg. Dylan Owens had just one hit, but it was worth three RBIs in the sixth.

Two of the three hits Marzheuser allowed came in the top of the second. He was able to leave runners stranded at second and third, thanks to a strikeout of Ben Johnston to end the inning. He would not give up the third hit until the seventh.

Florida Tech got on the board in the third inning. Bernard singled with two outs and got to second on an error. He came home on a single by Gronberg, and the Panthers went up 1-0. Marzheuser made that run stand up, giving his team a chance to blow it open in the eighth.

Bernard led off with a double and after Gronberg walked, Jacob Buser reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases. One out later, Brett Parris drew a walk, making it a 2-0 game. After Rollins brought in Anthony Trovato to pitch, Raul Quintero greeted him with an RBI single, making it 3-0. Owens followed with his big three-run double to left, making it 6-0, and Vinny Catanza chased Owens home with a triple.

Jake Lane who took over for Marzheuser had a 1-2-3 inning before the Panthers exploded for their six runs, and he would come back in the ninth. giving up just one hit before nailing down the win.
