Florida Tech Falls to NSU in Women’s Hoops

The Nova Southeastern Sharks got double-doubles from Jordan Tully and Makenna Drabick en route to a dominating win over the visiting Florida Tech Panthers 80-61, at Rick Case Arena.

Amanda Allen and November Morton each had 15 points to lead the Panthers, who shot just forty percent from the floor (23-of-58). That includes 8-for-18 from three-point range (44 percent). Allen also led the team with six rebounds. NSU won the rebounding battle handily, 42-30.

Fanny Paulin, Cheyenne Scott, and Fanny Hakanson all finished with six points.

The Panthers led after one quarter 16-14, but struggled after that, as the Sharks scored 22 points in each of the final three quarters.

The first quarter went back-and-forth with Scott and Allen scoring four points. NSU hit back-to-back threes to take a 10-8 lead before Allen’s tied it at 10. November Morton and Severine Uggen both hit two free-throws, giving the Panthers a 16-14 edge at the buzzer.

Allen hit the Panthers first three to give them a 19-18 lead with 7:01 left in the second and after NSU pulled ahead, Paulin hit one to give the Panthers a 25-24 lead. Paulin would hit her final three of the day moments later, and the Panthers were down 29-27.

NSU (7-7, 3-4 SSC) would finish the half on a 7-0 run and the Panthers went scoreless for the final three minutes of the quarter. The Sharks led 36-27 at the break.

Florida Tech (8-8, 4-4 SSC) scored the first four points of the quarter to cut the deficit to five, but the Panthers struggled again going almost two and a half minutes without a bucket. Florida Tech was down 11 with 4:56 left. The Sharks stretched the lead to 58-41 with 1:47 to go, before the Panthers shaved five off that, before the horn. NSU led 58-46, heading into the fourth.

With 6:23 left in the fourth quarter, it was a 68-48 contest. Florida Tech got it down to 15 on two separate occasions, but the deficit was 19 when all was said and done.
