No. 1 Limestone Grabs Win Over Panthers

The number one team in the country played like it on Saturday, as the Limestone Saints got their third straight win, beating Florida Tech 16-7 in a neutral site game in Charleston, SC.

Reid Chaconas and Justin Williams had two goals each for Florida Tech while Jesse Morgan, Tommy Bowser, and Andy Stump each had one. Chaconas also added an assist for a three-point day.

The Saints (3-0) were led by Tyler Papa and Ethan Stannard, who had five goals apiece. Jake Hahn got the start in goal for the Panthers, giving up the majority of those goals, allowing 15 and making four saves. Vincent Palermo played the fourth quarter in net, giving up one goal and making one save.

Ethan Tosheff was the man at the x for the Panthers and he did his job, winning 15-of-23 faceoffs. He also picked up eight ground balls.

Limestone scored twice in the first 5:29 getting goals from Papa and Stannard. Chaconas got the Panthers on the board with his first of the day, 30 seconds after the Stannard goal. A goal from Gavin Kesselring made it 3-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Limestone scored the first four goals of the second, one of those by Papa, and just like that, it was 7-1. Chaconas found the back of the net again with 7:41 left, coming off an assist from Luke Palmisano. Bowser’s goal was sandwiched between two from Stannard, giving the Saints a 9-3 lead at the break.

Justin Williams started the scoring in the third for the Panthers with a goal 1:53 in. That would be it for a while, as Limestone reeled off six straight goals in 8:07. That put this one out of reach, as the deficit grew to 11, 15-4.

Florida Tech finally put a run together in the final three minutes, getting goals from Morgan, Williams, and Stump, making it a 15-7 contest. Papa finished off his big night with his fifth tally with 10:22 to go in the final stanza.
