321Sportscast Friday Night Lights Week 7

The excitement you’ve come to expect from Brevard County football continued Friday night, including the two games brought to you on the 321Sportscast Facebook page.

Melbourne 21, St. Cloud 16

In the Battle of the Bulldogs, Melbourne needed a fourth-quarter defensive stand to hold off St. Cloud 21-16. The win was the biggest in five years for Melbourne and moved them to 7-1 on the season.

Antonio Wright led the Melbourne offense with two rushing touchdowns, one each coming in the second and fourth quarters. His fourth-quarter touchdown was his 18th of the season.

Melbourne quarterback Justin Popovich had a three-yard touchdown pass to Kaiden Heaney on a fourth-down play in the third quarter that gave Melbourne their first lead of the night, 14-10.

Marqueil Ford-Watson had a great game on defense, coming up with a couple of key sacks and Brady Carter came up big as well, winning the Carlsen’s Trophy Shop Player of the Game.

Eau Gallie 21, Port Orange Atlantic 17

The Commodores overcame a 10-point first-quarter deficit to beat the Port Orange Atlantic Sharks by four points, as seen on 321Sportscast. Eau Gallie quarterback Cade Ross had touchdown passes to Jamari Nelson (10 yards) and Jamari Wilson (52 yards), giving Eau Gallie a 14-10 halftime lead.

Jordan Blackmon had an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown, giving Eau Gallie a 21-10 lead before Port Orange scored with 54 seconds left in the game.

Heritage 13, Bayside 7

Heritage got a 7-yard run from Tay Farmer in the first quarter and a Chatavion Perry had a 40-yard pick-six early in the second quarter to make it 13-0. Ravion Smith scored the only Bayside touchdown, coming on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Rockledge 42, Merritt Island 6

The Raiders rolled to a big win over the Mustangs. Rockledge quarterback Elias Allen had a 36-yard touchdown pass to Raheim Sanders in the first quarter and a 63-yard big ball to Ladarius Tennison in the fourth quarter. Allen ran one in from two yards out in the fourth quarter to put the icing on the cake.

Astronaut 17, Space Coast 2

It was a big win for Astronaut in a game that got a bit chippy in the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand. It was a defensive battle for much of the night, but Abreon Torres did rip off a 44-yard touchdown run to put the game away early in the third quarter.

Viera 42, Tohopekaliga 6

The Viera Hawks scored 21 third-quarter points including the second touchdown run of the night for Jarvelle Francis. Bryce Norton had a five-yard run and an 82-yard pass to Davis Mallinger in that decisive quarter.

Holy Trinity 14, Coral Springs Charter 3

This was a scoreless game at the half, but HT got a one-yard run from quarterback Kevin Chandler, who caught a half-back pass in the fourth quarter, giving the Tigers the 14-3 victory.

Harmony 15, Palm Bay 14

This was a close game throughout, with the teams tied at seven after 24 minutes. The Pirates LaAnthony Valentine scored on an 84-yard run to tie the game at seven.

Harmony took a 9-7 lead in a safety 3:55 into the third quarter, only to see Valentine go 39 yards to score his second touchdown of the night to give Palm Bay a 14-9 lead with 9:06 to go.

Kenneth Torres won the game for Harmony with a 19-yard run with 2:48 left in regulation, and Palm Bay was unable to get the score they needed, as the game came to an end.

Satellite 49, Orangewood Christian 21

The Scorpions scored 21 points in the second quarter and added 14 more in the fourth quarter to come away with a 49-14 win over Orangewood Christian. Christopher Morris had touchdown runs of 20, 2, and 5 yards in that decisive second quarter.
