Panthers Knock Off Montevallo With Late Goal

The Florida Tech Panthers got their second win in three days on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Montevallo University.

A late goal off the foot of Mariana Mazzocca was the difference in this one, as she took a feed from Marem Ndiongue with 4:15 left in regulation to push the Panthers to the victory.

The Falcons (0-1) had the upper-hand in a lot of categories with a 13-5 advantage in shots, and a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. They also had four corners to the Panthers one. The only category that saw the Panthers on top was the only one that mattered.

Panthers goalie Maria Sanchez Recuero had a good game, registering four saves including one just 1:27 into the game. She also got some help from the crossbar in the 28th minute. She had another big one in the 87th minute after the Mazzocca goal, taking one away from Kaitlyn Harvey with 3:43 in regulation.
