Florida Tech freshman Vilma Ferdfelt scored her first career goal as a Panther on Saturday, helping her squad to a 1-1 tie with Barry in double-overtime at Rick Stottler field.

This was a hard-fought battle throughout, with the Panthers controlling the majority of the possession in the first half. Ferdfelt’s goal came in the ninth minute when she launched a shot from about 30 yards out that Barry goalie Maddie Hart-Pomerantz could just watch sail over her head and into the top corner of the net.

Marem Ndiongue got a good look at the net at the 27:50 mark, but Hart-Pomerantz was there to grab it. The Panthers went to the half with the lead, but were only outshooting Barry 3-2. They had a 2-1 lead in shots on goal.

Barry (3-3-1, 0-1-1 SSC) made some adjustments at halftime and that paid off quickly as Tash Hudson beat Florida Tech keeper Maria Sanchez Recuero as she came out seemingly to try to cut down the angle only to have Hudson beat her to the opposite side. The assist was credited to Ari Cerezuela.

The Panthers (3-1-2, 0-1-1 SSC) did hold an 8-5 advantage in shots at the end of regulation, but couldn’t push home any of the three shots on goal, sending this match into overtime.

Not much happened in the first overtime with Tech adding two corners to the stat sheet. In the second overtime they did get some pressure, but couldn’t get one home in the closing moments.
