Panthers Shut Out by NSU

The #17 Florida Tech women’s soccer team dropped their second match of the season on Saturday, losing 1-0 at Nova Southeastern on Saturday night.

After going unbeaten in their first four matches, the Panthers have now gone winless in the last three, suffering two losses and a tie.

This match was pretty even in the first half with Kate Frazier getting two shots on NSU netminder Shannon Hearty in the first 15-plus minutes of the match. Vilma Ferdfelt got another look at Hearty in the 35th minute, but came up empty.

Freshman Louise Matsgard broke the ice in the 44th minute with her first goal for NSU and it ended up holding up. Florida Tech goalie Maria Sanchez Recuero had four saves in the first half, but that Mastgard shot got by just before the half.

Florida Tech’s best chance came in the 75th minute when Alexis Sheely took a point blank shot. Unfortunately for the Panthers, Hearty was equal to the task. Florida Tech would get only one more shot in the last 15 minutes.
