The Florida Tech Panthers won game two of their weekend series against the No. 11 Rollins College Tars with a 6-2 win on Saturday, in Winter Park.

Andres Rodriguez (2-0) who usually pitches out of the bullpen got a spot start in this one and pitched a gem. He gave the Panthers 7 ⅓ innings allowing two runs in eight hits. He walked four and struck out three, throwing 99 pitches (58 strikes).

Offensively, Dylan Dohanos led the Panthers’ 10-hit day, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. He extended his hitting streak to seven games. Sam Schner also finished the day with two hits and a run scored.

Rollins (30-12, 14-9 SSC) got on the board first in the bottom of the second. Adams Torres was hit by a pitch while Jeslyn Whitehead and Nick Santucci drew consecutive walks. Parker Smith chased Torres and Whitehead home with a single and the home team led 2-0.

Florida Tech (29-17, 12-14 SSC) got to Rollins starter Justin Alintoff in a big way in the top of the third. Hayden Kimball and Schner singled. Kimball scored on a double by Dohanos. Paul Castillo followed with a double of his own, scoring Schner and tying the game 2-2.

A sacrifice fly off the bat of Jakob Newton put the Panthers up 3-2 before a Dylan Owens RBI single, followed by an RBI double from Jack Nagy each knocked in a run and put the Panthers up 5-2.

The Panthers would tack on another run in the sixth. Kimball walked and went to second on Schner’s groundout. Dohanos singled, plating Kimball and it was 6-2.

There were nothing but zeros the rest of the way, thanks to Rodriguez and Panthers’ closer Alex Carpenter, who pitched the final 1.2 innings. He allowed one hit and struck out two, throwing 15 of his 24 pitches for strikes.
