When you have the success that Florida Tech women’s Lacrosse coach Corinne Desrosiers has had over the past four seasons, you have to expect that opportunities for advancement are going to come. Desrosiers opportunity has come in the form of the head coaching position at Division I Duquesne University and she accepted.

In a press release from the Florida Tech athletic department on Tuesday, the school acknowledged Desrosiers’ acceptance of the job and said that the search for a new coach would commence immediately.

The Florida Tech women’s program has been a national powerhouse over the last two seasons, with the program being ranked as high as number five nationally. The team has only lost seven games in the past two seasons, with six of them coming to Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern.

Desrosiers built Florida Tech from the ground up, earning two Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year awards and four Sunshine State Conference appearances, sporting an impressive 48-23 overall record as the Panthers head coach. She was the first coach in the history of this program and will be the fourth coach to take the reigns at Duquesne.

Desrosiers will be tasked with rebuilding a Dukes’ team that has gone 2-15, and 4-12 over the last two seasons. Watching her and the teams that she has fielded over the last two seasons firsthand, there is no doubt that Desrosiers can get her new team to respond and more importantly, win quickly.

Coach Desrosiers posted on the team Facebook page, Tuesday, calling this the hardest decision she has ever had to make.

Florida Tech Athletic Director Bill Jurgens praised Desrosiers in the official press release.

“Coach Desrosiers has done an outstanding job at Florida Tech developing the women’s lacrosse program into a national contender in just its four years of existence,” said Florida Tech Athletic Director Bill Jurgens. “For what she has accomplished in her coaching career, there is no question she is one of the top coaches in the country. I wish her the very best in her new endeavor and thank her for all she has done for Florida Tech Athletics.”

We at Sports Lowdown wish coach Desrosiers the best of luck in her new position and thank her for the opportunity to cover this Florida Tech Juggernaut over the last couple of seasons.
