Stingy Panthers Notch Second Shutout

#4 – Craig McCall

The Florida Tech Panthers got their second shutout in two tries on Saturday, beating Auburn University Montgomery 3-0, in a non-conference Men’s Soccer match at the AUM Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Panthers (2-0) started the season with a 1-0 home win on Thursday, with Aymerick Berald-Cate picking up the win in goal. On Saturday, it was Jason Fesquet, who was not forced to make a save, as the Warhawks managed just one shot.

On the other side, Florida Tech had 16 shots, nine of those in the first half. The Panthers were awarded six corner kicks, to just one for Auburn Montgomery.

Craig McCall tallied the Panthers first goal of the night, thanks to the great passing from Paris Junior Roserie and Morgan Gauthier. McCall settled the ball and drilled it past Warhawks keeper Cedarian Brunelle, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead 32:14 into the match.

Abram Murphy hit the crossbar 2:59 later for the Panthers, who were unable to add to their lead before halftime.

Per Henrik Nag had a couple chances to add to the Panthers lead with shots in the 60th and 64th minute, but had one shot go wide and another blocked before Solomon Wheatley took over for him.

Florida Tech finally got the insurance goal they were looking for with 5:39 to go, when Guillermo Segovia Marcos tallied his first of the season, with an assist from Wheatley. It took 1:37 for the Panthers to score again, as Luca Campanini made good on a penalty kick and put the Panthers up, 3-0. It was Campanini’s second goal of the season.
