The playoffs are underway in Brevard County and Friday night saw some great playoff action, along with the Heroes Bowl between Satellite and Discovery. The game was broadcast on 321Sportscast, with the Scorpions winning 28-20.
Gunnar Greenwald had a one-handed grab to get the Scorpions on the board late in the first quarter. Discovery would take an 8-7 lead with 9:32 left in the half, but JD Arnold would get Satellite back in front 13-8, with a 35-yard touchdown run with a minute left in the half.
Garrett Tantius put the Scorps up 19-8 with a 72-yard interception return. Gage Malkin ran the 2-point conversion in and that made it 21-8. Danny Colby’s 6-yard run in the fourth quarter made it 28-8.
Discovery scored twice in the fourth quarter, including the final touchdown of the game with 30 seconds left. It was not enough, as Satellite held on. The Scorpions finished the season 7-4.
Tampa Bay Tech 52, Viera 13
In Class A Region 2, Viera and Tampa Bay Tech squared off on 321Sportscast. The Titans made it look easy against the No. 3 Hawks, as they scored 42 points in the second quarter. Viera had just four first downs in this game.
You had a feeling that it was going to be a long night in Viera when Davis Mallinger had an 85-yard kickoff return called back early in the game.
With his team down 31-0, Viera quarterback Bryce Norton got the Hawks first touchdown of the night with a 38-yard run with 5:17 left in the half.
Cooper Davis caught a three-yard touchdown from Norton with 1:40 left in the half, making it a 38-13 game at the break.
Late in the third quarter, Tampa Bay Tech had one of their players injured. The running clock was stopped for the injury, but with the severity of the injury, the player was taken off the field and the clock continued to run without the ball being snapped again. Viera’s season ends at 6-4.
Armwood 57, Melbourne 0
No. 8 Melbourne got their Class A Region 2 playoff run started against No. 1 Armwood and the Bulldogs took it on the chin.

The Raiders finished 2019 with an 8-1 record.
MCC 30, Frostproof 8
The Hustlers came into this game with a 3-6 record, but they proved they belonged with a big win over No. 4 Frostproof in Class 3 A Region 2.
MCC led 7-2 at the half and they would score with 2:00 left in the third when Mekhi Love found Jacobe McGriff from 35 yards out. After Frostproof scored to make it 14-8 to start the fourth quarter, the Hustlers scored 16 straight points to put this game away.
MCC will next play Jackson Trinity Christian next week.
Tampa Jesuit 45, Eau Gallie 9
In the other Class 5 A Region 3 game, the fifth-ranked Commodores went down 6-0 before Cade Ross and Jayden Campbell hooked up on a 42-yard pass, giving them a 7-6 lead. A field goal by Sean Deavers made it 9-7, as the first quarter was winding down.
The No. 4 Tigers scored the only touchdown of the third quarter and proceeded to run off 31 second-half points.
Astronaut 34, Keystone Heights 14
The No. 5 War Eagles got a big win over fourth-ranked Indians in Class 4 A Region 2.
