The 19th-ranked Florida Tech men’s soccer team got their second road victory of the season on Saturday, beating the Saint Leo Lions 2-1. The victory gave the Panthers a 2-2 record in the Sunshine State Conference.

Aymerick Berald-Catelo got a rare start in goal for the Panthers. He was forced to make just one save, in the first half and that came 5:20 in, on a shot by Jack Astill.

This was the sixth straight loss for Saint Leo, who fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Florida Tech (6-2, 2-2 SSC) got a goal on a breakaway from Luca Campanini at the 24:58 mark of the first half. He ripped one by Lions goalie Wessel Berenschot, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until there was 7:50 to go in the first half, when Mathis Hardy headed one by Berald-Catelo, tying things up at one.

The tie didn’t last long, as Per Henrik Nag scored 2:11 on a header. The feed came from Morgan Gauthier and the Panthers were up 2-1.

Nag and Campanini both had a chance to give the Panthers an insurance goal, as they both had headers that were saved by Berenschot in the first 4:12 of the second half.

The Panthers took 13 shots in the match, eight on goal. Two of Saint Leo’s nine shots were on goal.
