Panthers Earn 10th Victory With Win Over Tars

NCAA

The Florida Tech Panthers ended their regular season with an emphatic 4-0 win over the Rollins College Tars on Tuesday, in a Sunshine State Conference rivalry match at Rick Stottler Field.

With the win, the Panthers finished the regular season with 10 wins and finished with an impressive 6-3-1 record in SSC play.

The 4-0 outcome is impressive by itself, but it is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the Panthers had Per Henrik Nag and Craig McCall on the bench for this game so they did not chance picking up a yellow card that would have disqualified them from playing in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference playoffs.

Jason Fesquet was making his eighth appearance of the season, with this being his seventh start in net for the Panthers. He earned his second clean sheet, registering four saves.

Rollins goalie T.J. Brubaker had a lot tougher night and it started early as he had to dive on a ball 15 seconds into the match. The Panthers took nine shots in the first half.

That ninth shot came from Stian Olsen, as he headed the ball in after a throw-in from Danny Berrios, with 4.7 seconds left in the first half, giving the home team a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.

Florida Tech doubled their lead 10:07 into the second half when Paris Junior Roserie sent a cross into the box that Mikkel Roeisland easily tapped into the net.

With just 20:03 left in the match, the Panthers added goal number three when Hugo Lopez found Robbie Madden, who redirected it past Brubaker, giving the Panthers a commanding lead.

The fourth goal resulted in a penalty kick that was awarded to the Panthers after a foul on Rollins in the corner, long after the ball was kicked down the field. Luca Campanini scored his third penalty kick goal of the season with 15:50 left in the match.
