The Florida Tech men’s soccer team played 110 minutes of soccer on Senior Night Saturday and it wasn’t enough, as they ended up in a 2-2 tie with the Tampa Spartans at Rick Stottler Field. The tie earns the Panthers a spot in the Sunshine State Conference tournament.

Mikkel Roeisland and Luca Campanini tallied a goal each for the Panthers, who had a brief lead in the second half, only to see Till Neumann score the equalizer for the Spartans in the 78th minute.

Jason Fesquet got the start for the Panthers in goal, picking up four saves. His counterpart Jake Richards had to make seven saves.

The Panthers (9-3-1, 4-1-1 SSC) had 26 shots on goal, including 13 in the first half. Only two of those shots were on goal in the first half and Richards saved both.

Tampa (2-7-4, 2-6-1 SSC) got the only goal of the half on a Juancho Fernandez in the 36th minute.

Florida Tech kept the pressure on to start the second half and they were rewarded when Per Henrik Nag found Roeisland, who beat Richards, and knotted the game 1-1, with 31 minutes left in regulation.

Campanini’s goal came in the 72nd minute and gave the home team their first lead of the night. Unfortunately for the Panthers, Tampa answered just six minutes later, when Neumann beat Fesquet to tie things up again.

Shots were at a premium in the overtime, as Tampa logged three in the two overtime periods, but none were on goal. Morgan Gauthier did register a shot 57 seconds into the second OT for Florida Tech, but Richards was able to save it.
